A series of fine art posters created by Glasgow based graphic artist Joanne McAlpine.

The LOST RAILWAYS project aims to include every railway station and line that ever existed in Scotland. The completed artworks to date are located in the central belt;

The artworks are based on the historic 1900-1920s maps with stations and railways dating from the early 1800s to the present day.

Each work is beautifully reproduced on high quality 180g matt paper and is digitally signed by the artist.

Each station and railway has been extensively researched, and all dates and names are understood to be correct at time of print.

Where station names were changed over time the most popular name has been used to avoid confusion with other stations in the locality with the same name. Further information on all stations can be found on the internet.

I have brought together my love of railways, old maps and graphic art into a new series of pictures charting the old railway networks and stations across Scotland. These networks of historical railways are like ghostly veins that have left their imprint and which can still be seen from above. Their forgotten existence is woven into the social history of our forebears and the industries that shaped Scotland.
